One of those Nights

Salem,
OK, so I haven't blogged in over a week, its been crazy. Last Friday we took our COMPLETE dossier to Columbus and the State of Ohio certify it. We then sent it to Children's Hope International in St. Louis and they confirmed they received it on Monday. We are so excited I can't even put into words what we are feeling. We got an e-mail on Tuesday that CHI reviewed it and everything looked good so they were sending our Letter of Recommendation to the State of Missouri to be Certified as well and then were sending the dossier to Washington DC. They will then send it to Ethiopia within 2-2 1/2 weeks. Again, we are sooooo excited. Not to mention that there were 8 referrals THIS WEEK alone in our program!!!!!

Anywho, back to tonight. Have you ever had one of those nights? It followed a fun afternoon of going to see Indiana Jones with Scott, my dad, Barbie & Tj. We then had dinner at their house. I had a concert to play for so was gone for a little while. As we get home a little before 9pm, Elijah decides he does not want to go to bed. Its the "let me stay up" routine that tends to happen after a no nap day.

Well, we put him in bed and proceeds to scream at the top of his lungs, I go to the kitchen to finish my dad's bday cake and try to ignore the craziness that is our son. At the point of hyperventilating, I go to calm him down and as I am rocking him on our hallway floor....he nears the point of exhaustion and then says, "I don't want to go to bed!" So, the whole routine happens again. I tried to calm him done, he screamed when I was there, so I left, he screamed that he wanted me back. Scott was getting beyond frustrated as was I. It is so hard to hear your child yelling for you, but then I don't want to keep going back and being manipulated by him.

Anyway, I was nearing tears, he was hyperventilating AGAIN, so I go in and just hold him and sing his favorite song, Holy is the Lord and as I sing to him, I broke down in tears, he is sobbing himself to sleep. It was one of those moments that I felt so close to God and how he has blessed me with this special little guy. Then I think that after all the screaming and tantrums I throw at God, He is there holding me.

OK, so I think I've written a short book, so I better go to bed. Did I mention Elijah is out like a light in MY bed(-:

-Ciao

So excited for you to have your dossier on its way. What a great feeling.

that story about Elijah and comparing it to God and our temper tantrums was a good reminder. Yes, He's been holding me a lot lately.
